This place was amazing! Went there on a friends recommendations and we were totally satisfied. The service was excellent and very prompt. The food was delicious and perfectly priced for the portion. Ordered 2 cokes, pot stickers, pork fried rice, chicken chow mein, beef with broccoli and seared prawns. All that came out at $50 and we had plenty of leftovers. Service was so good I gave em 20% tip. I highly recommend and will be back again for sure.

I have been going here for 12 years now. It had never been a disappointment and have always enjoyed this place, but I guess all good things must end some time. I went here to eat the other day and there was a peculiar odor that was not at this place before. The sort of odor that you smell coming from cheap take out restaurants. I ordered the usual almond chicken, pecan prawns, and fried rice. The hot tea tasted like NyQuil which should have alerted me right there. So I chose not to drink the tea and then the food came out in record time like less than 5 minutes after ordering. It was not that great. I started feeling really bad a few hours after eating with severe abdominal pains and my friend who was with me eating here also had severe pains. I am still a bit ill and will never eat here again. Not one of my faves any more.

This used to be THE BEST Chinese food in Fremont. The last couple of years their food has gone steadily downhill. Tonight was the last time we'll eat there. Hot & Sour soup, Sweet & Sour Chicken, House Chow Mein, Honey Pecan Prawns and Pork Fried Rice = $50. Their soup used to be spicy and fabulous, lots of flavor and beautiful shrimp. Bland, lots of egg, lots of tofu and that's about it. The sweet & sour chicken was fatty (I actually thought it was pork since it was so stringy) had very little sauce and way too much breading. The prawns were cold, mealy and the breading was greasy. The fried rice used to be full of veggies - I could have made better at home with frozen peas & carrots. The chow mein was thick noodles, gristly pieces of chicken and a couple of slivers of beef. No crunchy beans at all. We'll make the trek to Ho Chow in Warm Springs from now on.

I'm really sorry I ate here. Definitely more money than I'd like to pay for the quality of food it has to offer. The dining room is cavernous and old looking. There's a piano that plays by itself in case you like music.Kung Pao Chicken: Fatty chicken with a spicy sauce that's nothing to write home about.Pork Chow Mein: Salty sauce with boiled pork. The noodles are passable.Schezwan Beef: Turned out to be baby corn (was the main ingredient) with beef, ginger and asparagus. It did not match what was on the menu. Go figure. In any event, it was quite salty. Definitely not worth the money. Not coming back.

I hadn't been here in a long time, but I definitely have heard from several people recently that China Chili was one of the better Chinese restaurants around. And if I recall correctly, I remember that from prior experience as well. The food wasn't bad, but it was just "ok". The majority of our dishes were cold which disappointed me. They do use quality ingredients though. The chicken and beef were not "cheap" cuts meaning that they weren't chewy at all. Plus, our Waiter was very friendly. I believe his name is Kent.

My husband and I decided to try this place for dinner. The restaurant is very clean with nice decorations. The waiter took our order without us having to wait or look for staff to put in our order. The food was out in about 15 min. It was OK chinese food. We didn't eat much so we asked for the rest of the meal togo. We left thinking we should have gone to Panda Express and the food would have tasted better and it would have been cheaper. The following day my husband went to warm up the food and I notice the house was smelling like curry. I look and they had pack some curry noodles which wasn't even our order. Gross!!!We will not be going back.

How do you say "Chinese food for the white folk" in Mandarin?Don't get me wrong, I dig this place. I have had maybe one or two Hot n Sour soups that are as good or better (one was in this obscure Chinese restaurants in Santa Barbara). And I always order Hot n Sour soup at every chinese restaurant I go to, even if I'm with hardcore Chinese people who frown on Hot n Sour soup gringos like myself. Their Hot n Sour soup is loaded with stuff which makes it more tasty. It's not watered down or just hot or just sour like many others.I dragged my 100% Chinese mother in law in here and she said it was pretty good. She's very nice but also going to tell me if she hates it. So it passed the sniff test. But let's face it, the only Chinese people or Asians for that matter in here are the staff. Don't believe me? Drop those chopsticks and take a peek over your shoulder. It's super rare to find an Asian EATING in here. Seeing one is like seeing Nessie in Loch Ness or Big Foot. Even I get the food to go. It ain't cheap fare and very westernized so that's probably why.So it's basically top quality, Mr. Chau's or Panda Express on steroids. If you want good Americanized Chinese food in the tri-city area, this is the joint!

It's one pricey Chinese place but worth it. Gotta love the ambiance and the classy lauriat-style of serving their dinner combo. It's a fine-dining experience. When my heart-husband and I went there, there were several groups of Asian people. Not sure why one Yelper mentioned it's an all-White dining place. What an observation! Blind.Anyway, I love their food. It's not easy to please me when it comes to Chinese food, so I know myself. LOL Just look at their wall of awards. Maybe that's why they're expensive. It's not a college-budget friendly place. It's for that very special occasion only. Or one would go broke.

My family and I have been going here off and on for MANY years. When I say many, I mean over 20 years. Much to my disappointment, this place has gone down hill.First off, when you go to a chinese restraunt and see so many more white faces than anything else, that should be a clue as to what you might be getting. Don't get me wrong, I am white, but I do like good food and at this point I would not recommend this place. Here is why....We ordered take out... spring rolls, garlic chicken, Mongolian beef, house chow mein, and sautéed green beans. The garlic chicken was heavy on the vinegar and water chestnuts. When I mean heavy on the water chestnuts I mean 75% water chestnut, 25% chicken. : (The Mongolian beef was heavy on the bamboo shoots and I was confused as to if it was actually beef. I've definitely had better here and elsewhere. The house chow mein didn't have much flavor... and meat(s) to say the least. The spring rolls, not the Vietnamese type but the fried kind, were okay. No complaints, but no raves. I could take them or leave them. The only upside to my meal was the sautéed green beans. They were good. They were crunchy and tasting of the garlic wine sauce they advertised. Apparently there was ground pork with them but I didn't notice.Overall I need to find a better place for Chinese food in Fremont. If anyone has any good suggestions, please let me know because I'm on the hunt.

If I could say the food was amazing I wouldn't mind paying more.We ordered take out several weeks ago(haven't been able to yelp it sooner) and I was horrified when I picked it up. The women behind the counter was coughing over and over.. I understand if you get a tickle, but she was hacking away.. to make matters worse, she wasn't covering her mouth.. She was walking all over the front of the restaurant hacking away!!! Gross... Then, she went over to the garbage, spit something in it and proceeded to box up my meal. My stomach still turns thinking about it. If she did that in front of me thinking it was ok, what is it like behind the scenes?? I politely grabbed my food, and threw it all in the garbage as soon as I got home. Yes, all $60.00 of it... NEVER AGAIN CHINA CHILI...

How do i start! People talking about a hidden gem here, way off! Though the prices and portion sizes were fair, the food was not. The food seamed like some regular fast food chinese that you could of picked up anywhere. The Walnut prawns everybody on yelp were raving about were way over breaded, there was more breading than shrimp in every bite. Personally i want to taste shrimp with some sauce, not bread, bread, sauce, shrimp.Chicken sweet and sour, again way over bread and taste like any other spot.sweet and sour soup, ehh!The family sized appetizer was a great deal, but nothing special.the shrimp fried rice was good.Me and my lady left with the left overs and we were trying to figure out who was going to take them home. We are not picky eaters and are really open minded about trying new places.like i said, seamed like cheap chinese food you could find anywhere. no distinct flavors or taste, it tasted like regular american chinese food.there is more i can say but I'm not because the service was excellent, if they only could match their quality of food with their service i could see this place turning around.

By reading these reviews, I thought I was at the wrong place.A friend recommended this place, so we decided to give this place a try for lunch. As we came in, there are framed awards adorning the wall. The ambiance is outdated and dark.Menu selection was boring, nothing different. Basic Americanized Chinese food. You can tell already this place isn't authentic. There were no Chinese words on the menu.We ordered and the food came out quickly. They have lunch special Mon-Sat. 11am-2pm. Dish comes with Spring roll, soup and bowl of fried rice/white rice.1. Mongolian Beef, very greasy, drowned in oyster sauce. Beef pieces were too large to put in my mouth. Green onions and bamboo shoots were too large. Very salty probably from too much oyster sauce. This tasted terrible. My wife said our own cooking trumps this crap.2. Chicken asparagus: not sure who is in the kitchen, but looks like they don't have any professional cook/chef in there. The pieces were not cut the same size. It was also drowned in oyster sauce and greasy! I swear the Mongolian beef and this dish had the same sauce, just that there was some chili sauce added to the beef dish.3. Beef chow fun, I'm Chinese and used to live in SF. I'm used to eating authentic Chinese food. Beef chow fun is supposed to be "dry sautéed". There was soy sauce literally sitting at the bottom of the dish and the rice noodles(fun) were wet and had no flavor. Too many bean sprouts which were not fully cooked. Very gross indeed.4. The fried rice is not what one would expect. It is just leftover rice with soy sauce. Ughh!!They looked at us funny when we didn't want to take the rest home. I guess they don't eat the food here. I wouldn't give this food to my dog. After reading all the yelp reviews, I was surprised by the decent to good reviews. I suspect they have lots of long time patrons here who support this place or they haven't had enough sampling of what "true or authentic" chinese food is and what it should taste like. Maybe it is different for dinner or the chef called in sick that day. There are plenty of Chinese places that I would go to here in the area.I could spend less then half of what I spent here and cook better than this at home.Bottom line: I'd thought I'd never say this, even Panda express would've been good. Terrible experience and food. Don't waste your money here.

I had lunch here today with work colleagues and noticed quite a few "best of" certificates from local newspapers. The interior is nice and there were several other groups of ladies lunching. There is also a player piano oddly providing some ambiance. The lunch menu ranges from about $6.95-$8.95 and includes hot and sour soup, a spring roll, fried rice (which is actually rice with perhaps soy sauce, not what you might picture fried rice to be) and your entree. Most everything was typical Americanized Chinese food and was just OK. I tried asparagus chicken, spicy shrimp, Mongolian beef, and sweet and sour pork. It was all OK, nothing special. The service asked us a question at one point and then without waiting for an answer said, "Whatever" and walked away. There were also no vegetarian options on the regular lunch menu, which surprised me.As a cheap place to go with co-workers for lunch, I think its fine. I wouldn't spend my money on dinner here.

Why I haven't been here since I was eight, the world may never know. But, to celebrate Chinese New Year, hubby wanted to take me to dinner. It was a hard decision, since I usually order Chinese as take-out and we wanted to find somewhere with a comfortable dining atmosphere if we were going to stay there and eat.BAM - China Chili! We were seated immediately, but asked to move since the piano was right behind the screen from us and the volume made conversation difficult. From the beginning the service was excellent - very attentive to water levels and even boxing up appetizers we didn't finish to reduce the clutter on the table. We started with wor wonton soup, and enormous potstickers. I think they were double the size of potstickers I've seen in other restaurants! It was impressive to see the egg moo-shee wrapped up for us not with hands, but only spoons touching the pancakes. We also ordered Kung Pao beef and house fried rice. Everything was fantastic!Other than the obnoxious piano, my only other complaint is that the beer was overpriced, and looking back I may have wanted to double-check the menu to see if that was what we were charged. I think in general their prices are a little more than other places I've been, but they do make up for it in service and ambiance. We'll be back!

We try to order something different every time, but we love all the flavors of their fried rice, and the kung-pao chicken and imperial pork are some of our absolute favorites. And I'm personally obsessed with the honey pecan prawns! We love how quickly the food gets to our table after ordering, and how it always hot and tastes fresh! With that being said, the prices are really decent.
