The bill was $610 including tip and they did not charge a corkage fee.

I think many reviews here reviewing China Village (CV) as a dim sum place or a place to get conventional quick Chinese food - and it does a very solid job on both fronts. If you are looking for a place that does these things, CV is a very good choice. However, after the most recent birthday banquet my friend hosted at CV, I do believe this is a restaurant capable of offering so much more for the adventurous foodies. Like many, when looking for good authentic Chinese food, we tend to look at SF. But I was pleasantly surprised by the dishes. Many of these dishes are either in Chinese only menu, or not on the menu all together (so called secret menu). Here are few highlights:- Shredded Chicken and Abalone in Wasabi Sauce: A light but flavorful dish that served like an appetizer. Wasabi sauce was not overpowering, but just enough.- House Spinach Tofu: A dish you can always count on. Not fancy, but fresh tofu made in house and I don't see many Chinese restaurant offers it. Enjoy the subtle taste of fresh tofu.- East Sea Emperor (Winter Melon, Lobster Meat and Asparagus): Looked beautiful and tasted wonderful.- Premium Soy Sauce Braised Crab: Once again, very flavorful. Despite the name, not very salty. Fresh crab.- Ox Tail Braised in Red Wine: I am not a big fan of ox tail, but the meat was so tender and perfectly braised that the flavor permeated throughout.- Crispy Chicken with Sticky Rice: Chicken was crisp and tasty but not oily. Sticky rice was flavorful after absorbing the wonder chicken sauce. Heavenly.- Lobster Noodle: Since it was a birthday party, we had a noodle with 4 lobsters in there - plenty of lobster meat for everyone. The noodle is done just right, not too soggy and not too dry. Lobster meat was tender. Many other restaurants failed on this by screwing up noodle, lobster meat or both. For dessert, we finish off with lotus seed buns - buns in a shape of peach given it was a birthday and peach traditionally symbolizes longevity. A wonderful finishing touch by CV.Service was excellent throughout.Talking to my friend, who frequents the restaurant, he mentioned there are many other wonderful dishes we can get next time; most off the menu. Many of these dishes also required reservation in advance, typically at least 24 hours, due to preparation time and procuring the freshest ingredients. So it is important to talk to the folks at CV, tell them your expectation, sit back and enjoy the great culinary experience.I don't like to give restaurant 5 stars - no one is perfect. I wish I can give CV 4.5 stars. It has exceeded my expectation. Next time when I have a banquet to host, I am going to ask what are on the "secret menu" and go from there.

This is restaurant is known by locals for its great dim sum and delivery to local areas. What is less known is that this restaurant has a secret menu! Ask for the Chinese-only menu, and ask them to translate it for you. It has a green background. This is your inner-foodie's path to exotic dishes! Some items that I remember are:- Snake soup (I don't like it, but some people are really into this. Good for bachelor parties. It's supposed to give you Viagra-like powers.)- Chicken and Abalone in Wasabi sauce (I really enjoy this one!)- Homemade Tofu with Spinach (They make their tofu fresh every day for this dish. This is something that I really appreciate.)I have also been here as a guest for several banquets. Some really memorable dishes:- Iced Crab. (Smoked crab served on a bed of ice. It's got a slight taste of rice wine. Really delicious!)- Rainbow Prawn- Sticky Rice with Chicken. (This one is like the dim sum dish, but much fancier.)- Seafood Soup in Winter Melon. (I know only two restaurants in the Bay Area that serves this dish. China Village's version is better!)My guess is that banquet dishes require ordering in advance. It's something that I'm thinking of trying the next time I host a large family dinner! If anyone else know more about their secret menu, please share!

I had three types of Dim Sum and they were all really greasy compared to any dim sum I've had before. The worst was the cracked crab claw which was actually soggy on the outside because it was served in a puddle of its own grease. My other issues had to do with atmosphere. I came at an off time, 3pm, and expected them to be closed. They proudly announced that no, they were open all day. They sat me in a room off the main dining room, then proceeded to vacuum the whole dining room. This was loud and went on for well over 10 minutes. If they need to do these types of things between lunch and dinner, it would be perfectly reasonable to close the restaurant. But not with a customer there! The other disturbing thing is that I heard someone in the kitchen hock a loogie several times. GROSSSSSS!!!!! It was loud and left me wondering where it ended up. Is that why my crab claw was so slimy?

I called for a reservation on Chinese New year. We waited 30 minutes for our RESERVATION. However, they let a Chinese family sit down before us when they didn't even have a reservation. China Village just ignored us until I approached the person incharge. Don't go here unless you are Chinese. The service is very bad. It is not fair!

Was with a large and older group last night for a Chinese banquet. Food had very little meat and no flavor. And there was very little of it. The soup tasted of very dilute chicken broth with lots of gummy corn starch gluing it together. The fried rice could have used a lot more chopped onion and egg so it did not look so bland and tasteless. Panda Express was mentioned at our table as better tasting and better presented. Hubbie and I returned home and had more to eat.

Dim sum available everyday. Awesome. Good quality too... Fast service do if you want you can be in, full, and out in 40 minutes.I've had better dim sum, but not near by. I do think the variety needs work and certain things like desserts can be hit or miss but I'll be back many times. Good outweighs the bad and they are convenient for me.

We enjoyed ourselves tonite at a private function......This place is quite far from the City, compared to all we have around us........it took us about 40 minutes to get there, easy to find and plenty of parking in the back......The food was banquet style and very good......I wouldn't be able to tell you the names, although I will attempt to tell some of the dishes......Deep fried chicken with fried garlic, gotta be a garlic lover or there will be plenty of scraping......Crabs made to perfection......Goose feet and bak choy......so tender and juicy......Sweet and sour spareribs......need I say more......These were just a few of the many more favorites..........

I love the dim sum here. I try to come early to beat the lunch wait. Everything I've had here is very good, including the Shu Mai, and all the shrimp dishes. Yum!

Great location. Pretty close to the Belmont caltrain station. Celebrated New Years here with my family. I'm not sure if it always gets this packed but parking sucked. Inside, it was also packed as well. Most tables were huge, big enough to fit a party of twelve. It can get pretty loud inside. Anyways, they were serving out food pretty quick for the first half hour and slowed down a bit. We ordered fried rice well in advance but never received it until the very end. They also failed with the water. We asked for water and they came back with four glasses. The rest of us didn't get ours until after 15 mins. However, the food was good. We ordered a good amount of siomai and walnut prawns. Their chicken feet had great flavor. We also ordered some chowmein that had a great creamy sauce with chunks of lobster pieces. The noodles were awesome. We also had some calamari, barbecue chicken, and a whole other stuff i cant remember. If your around town with a big party and is craving for some dim sum, you guys should try this place out.
