Very good food at a good price. The hot and sour soup is great. I've had many of the dishes and liked everything - except for the orange beef, which was really weird. Maybe it was an off day.

We went here tonight because of its four star rating on Yelp. How it got that is a mystery to me. It wasn't terrible or anything, but one of the best Chinese restaurants in the valley? Really? The dressing on the Chinese chicken salad was overly sweet, probably a bottled dressing bought in bulk, with sugar added. The fish dish had a bit of a funny taste, like other dishes that had been made in the same pan, and the garlic sauce didn't have much of a garlic taste. The chicken had too much corn starch in the sauce, making it taste almost like it was breaded. On the plus side, the soup was good, the service friendly and attentive. Basically this is a solidly average, garden variety Chinese joint, with well priced food. But nothing to recommend or drive across town for.

I'm generally pretty flexible with my expectations on Chinese food. I eat Panda Express and have definitely eaten at many Chinese Restaurants that serve a more Americanized take. I really didn't think Golden House was that good, in fact I felt it was kind of bad. I thought the egg rolls were way over fried, and some of the food just tasted cheap. And not in the cheap but good way, in the cheap and not that great way. The sweet and sour pork was good, and the fried rice wasn't bad, but I felt the wonton soup was pretty poor, and overall it was just a mediocre experience. The tea was good though.

I came here and ordered the pre-set menu for two with egg rolls, sweet and sour pork, fried rice, beef and brocolli, and wonton soup.Honestly, everything was below average except for the sweet and sour pork.PROSBest sweet and sour pork I've had in a long time. The crisp on the outside complements the texture of the pork perfectly. These came out perfectly cooked and I was impressed.CONSEverything else, from food to service. The food was not terrible, but it definitely does not deserve four or five stars. The egg rolls were over fried and bland in particular. The service was underwhelming too. Walking in, I made eye contact with the lady behind the counter across the room and waited for her direction. She looked at me, and then looked away back at the menus she was organizing. Then 10 seconds later, she looked back up at me again, and then looked away again. After another five seconds where she finished her organization of menus, she waved me over to a table--all without a hello or real acknowlegement.2/5 stars--definitely not coming back

Our first visit to this place that is only a mile from my work but I never knew. Thank you Yelp and the fine reviews. The food is very good, generously sized dishes. Service was very prompt and friendly. Some dishes were a little oily, but more selective ordering on other dishes should easily alleviate that. We most enjoyed the hot & sour soup, string beans, and broccoli beef and swat and sour pork.I do recommend a visit of your own.
I have been here a few times. Now a fan :) The staff is very friendly even the cook comes out to see how you are and if you liked the meal. They are quick and attentive with a smile. Looks like it might be family owned not too sure. It's small but homey. Looks like most people get take out. I would recommend this place for sure.

I live within walking distance, so I have been visiting Golden House for 14 years. The food quality for most choices has been excellent. I enjoy the curry chicken, orange chicken, chicken fried rice, moo shoo pork and others. However, the hot and sour soup is awful. When this place was under different ownership about 5 years ago, it was the best around. Now, it smells like petroleum, and is too burning spicy. I hope that gets fixed. The restaurant is never at full capacity, and the service is great. Other than the nasty hot and sour soup, I have nothing but praise for them.

Great tasting, pricing and service. Fast service, food was fresh tasting. We had Imperial Dinner for two and the portions were easily enough for a family of 4! And its not quantity vs. quality, it was tasty. We also ordered the moo shu pork, which was great! Highly recommended as in the south San Jose/Santa Teresa/Blossom Hill area, there a few chinese restaurants that really taste great!

After going here several times since, I have to up my review to 5 stars. It's not perfect -- not every dish we've eaten has been 5 star quality. The mongolian beef in particular isn't all that great -- the beef is a little chewy. However, generally speaking, you get great quality and great quantity for low prices. You can't beat that. And the customer service is superior to every other Chinese food restaurant I've ever been to. I highly recommend this place. (BTW they give you a ton of awesome chinese chicken salad and hot and sour soup if you get it to go... just make sure you tell them to keep the dressing on the side. But for ~$12, just those two things can feed a family of 4. I'm not kidding.)

This place is the real deal and one of the best Chinese food spots around the South Bay. Their Kung Pao Chicken is unmatched anywhere I've been to in California. It has the perfect flavor meaning their chef knows how to do stir-fry right which isn't an easy task since most places get it wrong leaving you wishing you were here instead. This is the go to place and we find ourselves driving out of the way. It's not a flashy location or environment but your stomach will thank you. Not to mention it's cheap with solid service.Golden House has never disappointed or ever given anyone I know a post-stomach gastro issue lol.

Okay, I don't really recommend many Chinese restaurants because I'm pretty picky. There are tons of Chinese restaurants everywhere, so if I'm gonna recommend one, it better be sensational! And this place is. My cousin and I ordered 2 dishes, the mix vegetables and this seafood dish and they were both really good. The place is not fancy, but the service was great and the price is wonderful - cheap! If I'm in the area again, I will definitely go to this place again.

We love this place. We have lived in the neighborhood for 8 years and Golden House has never disappointed. The portions are great, the price very reasonable, and we can count on their good service and fresh, tasty food.I recently brought a friend here who had never been and she was also very happy with her GH experience. We ordered the dinner combo and there was so much food leftover, we both took baggies home, and we ate a lot at dinner!I hope this little restaurant continues to be reliable because I need my Chinese food fix on a regular basis!

This is the kind of restaurant that the locals love, and folks drive out of their way to enjoy it too. You'll find lots of customers any time of day, but you'll almost always be greeted and seated immediately. The ownership changed a few years ago and so did the quality of the food and the service--for the better! We love that we can order favorites like garlic eggplant, that isn't on the written menu. The kids and I are hooked on the combination rice, loaded with shrimp, pork, chicken, and lots of veggies. The Hot & Sour soup is killer as well as the Mongolian Beef. The wait staff remembers you from your last visit and is very attentive--and friendly.

This place rocks!....now. I say now because 6-8 years ago (give or take) I went here and was dissapointed because the food didn't seem fresh and for what you got I didn't see the value. BUT NOOOOW...I don't know what happened; maybe a new chef or new ownership. This place is definitely the spot to go for the lunch scene. Always busy and great lunch deals. One of my favorites is any dish with black bean sauce so the fish with black bean sauce tops my list! The prices are really fair and the fried rice (from someone who doesn't really like fried rice) is really tasty. The staff is super friendly and the place is pretty clean. The location is a little older but the crew at Golden House does a good job with the upkeep. The only thing I have found to not like very much was the Schezuan shrimp. It was masked by a lot of batter and it has tasted 'fishy' more than once.Overall 99% of everything I've had has been great...oh and they will even let you get the lunch special for dinner for a buck or two more...still better than most!

Extra added bonus points for being thoughtful.I got the food home and we all dove in. The garlic chicken is sooooo good! The price of their lunch specials are great too. Authentic dishes for people that don't need the frills of fanciness. I believe that some of the Asian-fusion places have skewed what Chinese food is actually suppose to taste like. If you like TURBO sauces then stick to Asian Fusion food. BUT if you want simple Chinese dishes like grandma would make for you, then check this place out.The chow fun is yummy!Decor does not get points, but here it's not about the decor, it's about the food. My grandmother always said pick places that put their money into their ingredients and food not the decor.

Been here a bunch of times. I don't understand the prior review's mention of "cafeteria style setup" - it's not a buffet, it's a sit-down order-and-be-served restaurant. Perhaps it used to be set up like that; I don't know. Food is good and fresh, prices are reasonable. It can get busy at lunchtime - try to get there before 12:00. Soup always arrives within literally seconds of being seated. Portions are, if anything, over-generous, and I have seen people allowed to go "off-menu" if they have the ingredients. All in all a good place for lunch. Never tried dinner there.?
