If you like authentic Chinese food, this is your place. We have dinner here at least once a week and there are some of our favorites, deep dried chicken in Chongjin style, black pepper beef, honey walnut prawns, ground pork hot pot to name a few. Couple things you must know.... avoid ordering from the lunch specials, they tend to be kind of plain. Don't expect fast services... They only have two people running the whole restaurant and when one is out on delivery, you will need to wait a bit longer... Last tip, sit yourself. :)

The restaurant located here has changed management several times, so it's hard to keep up. The first owner had really good food, and then the second owner blew it. I had several bad meals and decided not to return. I then saw the new Lucy's sign, figured the restaurant had been sold again, and decided to try it. Great! I've eaten here four times so far and the quality is consistently good. The lady who runs the place is super friendly. I hope this place stays around because good Szechuanese food is hard to find without driving to the International District.

This place is FANTASTIC! Don't let the fact that it's changed ownership/management several times scare you away! My husband and I have eaten here 5-6 times now and every time has been excellent. Last night was our favorite meal yet - the "Noodle Soup & Pork & Pickled Vegetable" ($6.95) was SO good. A rich, flavorful broth, and the pickled veggies were super tasty. I expected them to be like kim chi, but not at all. I ordered it 4 out of 5 stars and it was the perfect amount of spice. The "Braised Pork in Shanghai Style" ($10.95) had tons of thinly sliced pork and chunks of potato, in a dark, rich, slightly sweet sauce. YUM! Also got the "Honey Walnut Prawns" ($9.95), which were lightly battered and fried with a creamy sauce drizzled on top and tons of walnuts. Excellent! We've ordered the "Dried-cooked String Bean" ($7.50) several times as well and it's always good. So is the "Chopped Wild Vegetable and Beancurd ($5.95!)". I can't say enough - please go to Lucy's and keep it around! The best in Burien, by far. :) I've never even written a Yelp review, that's how good this place is.

DELIVERY:We have ordered from here a handful of times, and love the Chicken Curry and Broccoli Beef. It's usually pretty fresh, but we often ask to go "light oil" when ordering ANY Chinese to avoid getting drowned in the stuff. They were great at assuring it was hardly oiled at all.DINING IN!!!!!!!For a pretty cheap price you can order enough food to feed a family of 4 for around $30, what's not to love about that?!? It's not "gourmet" but it''s also not China Express. Plus, it's VERY clean, friendly, and they take substitutions on their combo meals! I will for sure be back! The ordering of delivery of the food to the table was a little unorthodox, but it was all piping hot and fresh! The Chow Mein came first, then egg roll, then soup, and later the sweet and soup chicken and finally Moo Shu Pork came out. The fruit came with the bill, which was a nice touch.PROS:CleanFresh IngredientsLow PricesHUGE PortionsCONS:I was not a huge fan of the egg flower soup... it tasted like sesame oil?The "fresh fruit" offered with the combo meal turned out to be some slightly overly ripe grapes... not a huge fan.

This is a place that I have visited a few times and each time it's due to reparts of new management or ownership. I can also say each time that this place has been a huge disappointment. On my latest visit I can tell you that the place was clean and the service was friendly. At the same time the food was average at best. No kick, no zip, no flavor. The hot and sour soup was not hot and way too sour and actually tasted more like a vegetable soup.I think this place is a done deal. Happy Garden across the street is way better and even they are just slightly above average. The lunch special was less than $6 with tax and that is a great price for a meal. I can also tell you that the portion was good and I didn't leave hungry. At the same time I felt like I ate a plate of filler. That's not to say that the ingredients were fresh, just that they lacked flavor.Check them out for yourself, but I would not recommend them or try them again.

We ordered from Lucy's Kitchen last night making it our 3rd or 4th order. The first couple of times it was ok, nothing special but it was a decent price for Chinese delivery. However, I'll absolutely never eat there again. I'm vegetarian. I ordered the "House Special Tofu" (off the VEGETARIAN section of the menu) and was completely disgusted and horrified after I bit into something I thought to be a water chestnut but turned out to be a scallop or some variety of shellfish. I'm a vegetarian for a reason, I would NEVER willingly ingest animal flesh. I'm outraged that it turns out I couldn't just order the "House Special Tofu" (which was listed in the vegetarian section) off the menu and actually receive a vegetarian meal. Grossly misleading, completely sickening. I spent the rest of the evening vomiting and crying. That's unacceptable, Lucy.

The worst $47 I've ever spent. I should have known better right away when my feet were sticking to the floor as I walked to the table. The food was horribly greasy. We ordered the Mongolian beef, picy chicken chow mein and some tofu dish. You could see the grease pooling all over the edge of the food on the plate. The service was non existent. I will never go back. I really don't understand how this place gets ANY good reviews.

I would like to tell you about the food at Lucy's, but unfortunately I can't. I had been looking forward to trying it, and tonight was the night. I walked in and waited near the entrance. I saw a man near the kitchen, but I don't think he noticed me, and then he went further into the kitchen where I couldn't see him. No big deal, since I wasn't in a hurry. I waited there about 5 minutes, then decide to open and close the door again so that it would make noise. Nothing. I figured he was busy, though, so I waited some more. 5 more minutes. I started browsing on my phone. Finally, he comes out of the back, and brings something to the one occupied table. I stepped forward, and when I did so, some kind of motion detector made a sound... and he ignored it, and me, and went back into the kitchen. I waited about one minute more, and decided to take my business elsewhere. So I went to Thai's Corner, where I recommend the Forest Curry.

For a Burien Chinese restaurant, it deserves 4 stars. If it were in ID, it would be 3 stars. It is nice to have a decent chinese place in the area. It is the most authentic Chinese place around with items that you normally see at authentic Chinese restaurants in ID. They even have my favorite dish, Mapo Tofu on their lunch special menu! They also deliver!

I made a yelp account just to review this place.Their food is delicious. Dishes are large and quite inexpensive. They are also in a somewhat crappy location, and I've never seen many people inside.I figure I have two choices -- let the place fade into obscurity (and lose an awesome Chinese restaurant in the Burien/Normandy Park area) or praise them and risk driving their prices up to what their food is actually worth. I choose the second :).

This quaint chinese restaurant is about the 4th ownership in the past 7 years. this time the food was the best. The service was very attentive, the owner, Lucy, came out to check with us on our dishes ordered. We had the calamari, it was not fishy, not overdone, just right and had a spicy flavor,yum....we also had the won-ton soup, it was good. the bbq fried rice was nice, really loved the bacon and cabbage dish. we also ordered the black fungus with vinegar...nice flavor. the spicy shrimp were very good. no msg, good cooking oil, not overbearingly salty, just good food.

We generally don't like American style Chinese food finding it too bland. Finding Lucy's in Burien was a great find and huge surprise. Lucy was trained at culinary schools in Chongqing and Shanghai and wanted to bring authentic dishes to diners here. Dishes are separated into Szechuan and more salty, sweet Shanghai-style. Be sure to ask the waitress what dishes are especially authentic and worth trying. At Lucy's for the first time, we asked for recommendations for hot dishes and authentic flavors. We had the Boiled Sliced Beef in Hot Sauce cooked by Lucy herself and the Pork with Hot Garlic sauce. Both dishes were knockouts, but the Boiled Sliced Beef was the best dish I've had in at least a year. It was served in a deep black kettle with clear noodles, beef and garnished with snow peas. It was beautiful to look at, sublime in taste and chock full of amazingly flavorful and interesting crunchy flavor explosions. Finally I had something as hot as I'd hoped for and the smells and tastes were truly delightful.I'm already planning out my next visit and the dishes to order. Our waitress suggested Deep-fried Chicken in Chongqing Style, and Szechuan Hot Spicy beef as other authentic dishes. My partner is looking forward to Boiled Fish in Hot Sauce. The menu also has Clay Pot Hot Pots, probably worth a try too. This was the best tasting food we've had for a long time. We will certainly be back, and soon.

My experience at Lucy's Kitchen was amazing. It had been a while since I have had good service, good food and all of it be in a great atmosphere. All of the food was fresh and authentic. As my girlfriend and I were sat, the waiter pulled the seat out for her, which I thought was a very professional and polite thing to do. The owner greets her customers and makes everyone feel welcome. It is very nice to sit down in a restaurant and hear the other customers enjoying their experience as well. If you are in the area and haven't eaten here before, I would definitely recommend giving it a try, you won't be disappointed.I made an account specifically for this review.

After reading such glowing reviews here on Yelp, we decided to give Lucy's a try. We were not disappointed. :)A little background here... We don't usually eat much 'gringo' Chinese food, usually preferring to go to the ID for more authentic cuisine. However we used to frequent the now-defunct Ho-Win in West Seattle when we wanted American style Chinese food. We loved that place so much we didn't even want to try any new Chinese restaurants. In fact since the closure we have tried exactly one other place - King Wah in Burien - and found it so bad we hadn't even considered trying another place. When I came across reviews of Lucy's quite by mistake a couple days ago, it rekindled my desire to find some good Chinese so we headed down to check it out.The location itself was easy to find. It's tucked away in the strip mall right across the street from Huckleberry Square. The restaurant was tastefully decorated (as far as Chinese restaurants go.) It was absolutely spotless - every surface from floor to ceiling. The staff were extremely pleasant and thoughtful. Just great. The food came out quickly and it was piping hot when it arrived. We ordered the House Special Fried Rice, General Tsao Chicken and Hot and Sour Soup - our standard Amercian style dishes. The fried rice was the best House Special rice I'd ever had. It featured the largest chunks of BBQ pork, beef, and chicken I'd seen in such a dish. It also included shrimp plus egg and veggies. Very tasty! The General Tsao was not the style I was used to, but I found it delicious. The batter was light, the chicken tender and the sauce spicy. Some restaurants' sauces taste like the inside of a can to me, but not here. Fresh!!! I liked it a lot. And finally the Hot and Sour Soup (which is my husband's favorite) was a winner. It was darker and sweeter than other versions I've had, with a distinct soy flavor. All the ingredients were fresh and it was, like the other things we tried, delicious. On top all of that, the prices are very reasonable. It was just $21 for 2 entrees and 2 small soups. The portions were large as well. The overall quality was great. Good value for your money here!Having had such a positive experience, we will definitely be coming back. I would have given them 5 stars, but it is very hard to fill the shoes of the legendary Ho-Win (which I hold as the gold standard of American Style Chinese). Consider my rating 4.5 stars. :DNext visit we plan on trying some of the more authentic dishes (there are a few). They also offer free delivery (HURRAY!!!) within a 5-mile radius (they will still deliver a bit further than that for a fee) so I am positive we'll be giving that a try, too. On addition they offer online ordering. http://www.lucyskitchens… How cool is that?So far so good!

My husband and I have visited this restaurant more than a handful of times now and have not been disappointed. The service was pretty slow at first but has quickened up and is on par with what I expect. My husband goes more for the Americanized dishes and I go for the more authentic ones, there are plenty of both to satisfy us.My favorites so far are hot and sour soup, black fungus with vinegar sauce, chicken with string beans and wild vegetables with bean curd. The hot and sour soup is a rich broth that has a little more sour that hot. A pleasant amount of tofu, veggies, egg, etc. and if there is anything you really like or don't like in hot and sour soup, let them know and they'll adjust yours to taste. I like that the broth is on the thinner side, not the thick gooey kind.Don't let the fungus in the black fungus dish keep you away. If you like the thin black chewy strands in the hot and sour soup, you will likely love the black fungus appetizer because its the same thing - just a different preparation. This was a flavorful delicate dish that I really enjoyed. The chicken with string beans is just good. A dry preparation with plenty of flavor. (If you like spicy, let them know and they'll add some heat).I just tried the wild vegetables with bean curd yesterday and wanted to eat the whole plate in one bite it tasted so good. Finely chopped bean curd that appeared to have been marinated in soy sauce then cooked with finely chopped greens. A little salty but for me, pleasantly so.Like another viewer mentioned, the fried rice is nothing special but I am not a big rice fan so this doesn't dampen my enthusiasm. We also found the pot stickers to be fair but not outstanding - we prefer the thicker dough pot stickers - Lucy's are the thinner kind.It is getting harder and harder to decide what to order because there are so many items I love. I hope you try them out and find some favorites too.

First off this place has completly new ownership. Something it desperatly needed. I came in for lunch today and had an amazing experience compared to the old owners. The Service:The staff was exteremly pleasent. I was given a window seat even though I was eating by myself which is always appriciated. The owner came by half way through the meal to make sure I was comfertable and enjoying everything. She even seemed to check my dish to make sure it was prepared to her standards. Very impressive for a small chinese dig.The Food:I ordered the General Tso's Chicken. I find this dish to be best when trying a new place because if they mess that up chances are they most the dishes aren't worth trying. It was AMAZING. The chicken was all handcut and hand battered as opposed to places who use prefrozen packaged deep fried chicken "Chunks". Thats something I also look for, Fresh means better. The hot and sour soup was the best i've had. (That means alot as I eat chinese fairly regularly) The only complaint I have was the fried rice was not as good as the other courses. Not bad by any means but not the best. The Experience:The decour is a little cliche'. Chinese Dragon paintings and so on. The lighting above the tables have chords that are to long and look tacky... But I'm just nitpicking now. The tables were all clean and well managed. (Soy Sauce containers full, table not sticky, etc) When a place doesn't take the time to refill the soy sauce they usually don't care much for the customer. Not the case here. I was well taken care of. Before I left the waiter asked if it was my first time. I said yes and he proceeded to give me a gift for choosing their restraunt. I was really impressed. The lunch special was only $5.25, cheaper then most places and I left a $5 dollar tip for the exception service. So I was beyond surprised when he pulled out a $5 dollar "Bottle shirt" gift that most likely cost them all their profit from my visit. It was classy and something you don't get much anymore.I have to say this may very well be my new favorite place, great food, great service great people... I couldn't ask for anything more. If you are looking for a good chinese at the best prices this is your place. I can't recommend it enough!
