Partnership Promotes Healthy Dining at Asian Restaurants Nationwide
|
 |
Did you know that in late 2008, Healthy Dining joined forces with Smart Business Services, publishers of Chinese Restaurant News and Asian Restaurant News, to spotlight member restaurants nationwide and their Healthy Dining options? This organization represents tens of thousands of restaurants across the country and publishes numerous industry magazines. With over 80 of the represented restaurants now part of the Healthy Dining Program, we’ve learned just how many great options are available at Asian restaurants.
Dishes are typically loaded with a wide variety of vegetables such as bell peppers, carrots, celery, onions and more. Look for favorites such as Chicken or Shrimp with Vegetables and Chicken with Broccoli. And tofu, low in fat and cholesterol-free, is a common source of protein in Asian dishes. Try House Tofu for a serving of tofu and plenty of vegetables.
Watching your sodium? Request the sauce on the side and use sparingly. Most restaurants are happy to accommodate special requests.
Broth-based soups, like Hot and Sour and Egg Drop, are low in calories and help fill you up before the main course.
Brown rice has become a more common option in Chinese and Asian restaurants. Choose the brown rice instead of the white, whenever available, to get a serving of whole grains and up your fiber intake.
Healthy Dining is proud to partner with so many restaurants dedicated to offering delicious and healthy options to diners. Next time you're craving your favorite Asian dishes, visit HealthyDiningFinder.com to find a restaurant like these in your area:
